15. November 2015: Restaurant Morton’s The Steakhouse

| February 2, 2016 | 0 Comments

Compared to Tim Ho Wan, dinner at Restaurant Morton’s The Steakhouse is quite something else. The “Tuna Tacos” (180 HKD) already tasted better than the whole lunch at Tim Ho Wan. However, the cuisine is much more European / American than at Tim Ho Wan. Well, in any case the tuna was delicious and I especially liked the adding of the avocado on the side.

The main course was obviously meat. I went for the “center-cut filet mignon, 120z” (588 HKD) served “Foie Gras-Cognac Butter” (30 HKD). The meat was cooked to perfection and was overall quite delicious. It was not the best piece of meat I have ever had but it was definitely okay. However, the foie gras cognac butter was a bit of a disappointment as it actually did not taste very well.

The “parmesan and truffle matchstick fries” (115 HKD) which were recommended to us by the waiter were actually superb. Quite intense but not as greasy and cheesy as such fries with cheese often are. The “creamed corn” (105 HKD) was actually my favourite side dish.

What was quite lovely was the “butter & spread” which was served in the beginning – especially as you get a whole loaf of bread to start. Perfect to share for a party of three.

The atmosphere of the place makes you feel like in an American steakhouse from the 80ies. It was a bit too carpet-y and plush-y for me – but the view is quite nice and the service is dedicated and does a good job. If you are staying at the Sheraton, then it is definitely legitimate to have dinner here (also if you are not staying at the Sheraton) but if you are then it is very conveniently located in the same building.
