25. November 2015: Restaurant Heidi & Tell
The Restaurant Heidi & Tell is a very particular restaurant. Basically it is a walk-in burger joint comparable to McDonald’s and Burger King – but very much not so. It is true that you get in, queue, place your order, and then you are called to the counter once your order is done. Heidi & Tell only serve burgers though and nothing else.
Being here for the first time, I decided to enjoy a traditional burger called “HT” which has double beef and double mountain cheese as well as bacon (for CHF 16.90) obviously accompanied by the “HT Fries with parsley and sbrinz cheese” (CHF 4.90) and a “flamethrower hot sauce” (CHF 1.50).
The meat was yummy as was the whole burger. The HT fries on the other hand did not persuade me. The whole dish is generally good – however, it is super tricky to eat it as it always seems to fall apart and believe me, unless you eat your burger with fork and knife, you will be full of sauce.
The place itself is simple, nicely designed but incredibly full over the lunch period. And as you can’t book a table in advance, the best strategy (if you are two or more) is to sit down when you enter and send one friend queue for the food. Like that you can more or less guarantee that you have a place to sit. Besides the fair prices for the food, the same applies for the beverages (i.e. water, 0,5L, CHF 1.90). Overall, if you like burgers and do not have a very critical meeting in the afternoon where you could not ruin your shirt, I can absolutely recommend you the Heidi & Tell.
