9. December 2015: Restaurant Ojo de Agua
YUMMY YUMMY YUMMY! I have been recommended to pay the Ojo de Agua a visit so I followed that advice. And frankly, big wow. I mean, the place is really small like the original jo de Agua in Zurich so it is highly recommended to book a table in advance. In order to start I went for a “small beef tatar with Ojo bread” (EUR 12.00) which was already great in taste.
Secondly, I went for the “Filet and Bife de Chorizo” (EUR 29.00) and – oh my god – so much happiness! Even now when writing the review I am still smiling! It is sooooo lovely! Soooo yummy! I absolutely fell in love with the meat.
Which also comes with a huge-ass salad which was good as well.
What was really great was the location, the food was exquisite and the prices are absolutely fair. The only thing which was a bit of a disappointment was the behaviour of the waitress. We asked for something and then said jokingly that of course we would get a grappa “on the house” – and it was brought to us. When we got the bill though, we were charged EUR 6.50 for each “Grappa Nonino”. Generally not a big deal to pay it (which we did) but when we jokingly say “on the house” and you go along, then I expect you to actually not charge us. However, what must be said is that they really went the extra mile to make sure that even my colleagues who were late due to a delayed plane and a delayed train still got some food on their plates although the kitchen was officially closed already. The “PURO Corte” (0,75l, EUR 42.00) was a great match to the meat – recommended.
Overall, the Ojo de Agua is more than recommended. Great place, exquisite food, fair prices, and good services (going the extra mile). You definitely have to book a table in advance!
