Superfoods in London: Restaurant Plum and Spilt Milk (20. February 2016)

| April 18, 2016 | 0 Comments

When you hear “Plum and Spilt Milk” you wonder – who comes up with the idea to name a restaurant like this!? Well, in the end, it doesn’t really matter as what you get there is quite great. The “superfood salad” (GBP 9.50) which comes with quinoa, pomegranate, sprouts, pumpkin seeds, beetroot, walnuts, wrapped in carrots, green and yellow zucchini and walnuts roasted in olive oil is delicious. A hint of sauce to be added upfront would not have been wrong though.

The “deviled Cornish lamb’s kidneys on toasted sourdough” (GBP 8.75) which I had as a main are particular. I haven’t had lamb’s kidneys before and they are a bit chewy so you can’t have them by themselves or at least not too many of them. However, with the sourdough and the sauce they are quite good – a hearty but good dish.

The place is nicely decorated and you feel comfortable. Admittedly, it is a bit awkward to eat alone when all tables around you are either full of people or dates. But due to the fact that the waitress did not only do a great job but was also quite jovial while keeping her professional distance, I felt very comfortable during the whole time there.

If you are looking for a nice place with good food in a great atmosphere for decent prices, you should definitely dine here – and book a table in advance. It is a bit easier to get a table if you are staying at the Great Northern Hotel, but if you’re not, booking is definitely recommended.
