Lovely breakfast @ Restaurant Plum and Spilt Milk (21. February 2016)

| April 20, 2016 | 0 Comments

When you stay at the Great Northern, breakfast is not served the “usual way” – there is no breakfast buffet but you order from the breakfast menu (I mean, they have the Pantry close to the rooms – which are lovely by the way – but a piece of cake and a coffee doesn’t do the trick for me in the morning).

I went for the “grilled smoked bacon and fried egg in an artisan roll” (GBP 8.00) with a “double espresso” (GBP 4.00) and “orange juice” (GBP 3.50) which was okay. Not the usual bacon and eggs one knows and likes but eatable.

The second dish I chose was great though – the “crushed avocado, tomato and chili on granary toast” (GBP 11.50) was mouth-watering. And surprisingly, even the tomatoes were ripe which is definitely something I would not have expected!

Unfortunately, the service was not as good as the evening before. The waiter was friendly and tried to be swift but somehow you would have to wait up to 10 minutes for your coffee or tea (which I ordered later). And when you have ordered tea and it only arrives once you are done with the dishes, it kind of misses the whole point. Well, however, the second dish was great. Overall, I have a bit mixed feelings about breakfast at the Plum and Spilt Milk. I’d definitely give it a go for dinner – not so sure about breakfast.
