There is just one place for dinner after 10pm: Restaurant Soave 10 (3. March 2016)
Once you arrive in Lugano you feel like you’re in Italy – but after some time you realize: You’re not! Well, first of all it is not as loud, maybe a bit more organized and then it really hits you. If you try to get something to eat in a restaurant after 10pm which is – in my experience – absolutely normal for Italy, you are stuck! We walked the city for 30 minutes and asked six or seven restaurants if they would still serve us basically anything they all politely declined and said the kitchen was already closed.
Finally, finally, finally, after 30 minutes (and Lugano is not such a big city), we managed to find a place: Pizzeria Soave 10! And while I usually never go the same place twice, I gave in and we went to Soave 10 and they served us something after 10:30pm: pizza! Admittedly, probably not the most healthy thing for the night but the “Pizza Soave 10, Piccola” (CHF 23.00) was actually good.
Well, actually it did not work entirely! I had asked for additional “anchovies” (+ CHF 2.00) which were served, BUT on the wrong pizza. So my colleague got them. Frankly, I had not realized that they were on his pizza but just that they were missing on mine, and did not care much until the bill came where they obviously were to be found. Well, finally we ended up paying them but I do not think that is correct towards the customer if you put them on the wrong pizza. And yes, we ate them but my colleague had not ordered them.
If you are looking for a decent meal after 10:30pm, then you should definitely go here straight away – as it seems you won’t find dishes served after this time anywhere else. The atmosphere of the Soave 10 is fine, the service is friendly and generally attentive, and the prices are decent (e.g. 0,1L Centine, CHF 5.50; 0,5L San Pellegrino, CHF 5.00).
