A true Italian experience – with flawless service: Restaurant La Cucina di Alice (21. March 2016)

| May 13, 2016 | 0 Comments

I have heard about La Cucina di Alice a couple of times and I tried to get a table in the evening twice – and failed both times. This time it worked: A table was available! The waiters were very attentive and while being seated I received the menu and was asked if I wanted water which was served right after.

After having placed the order, an amuse bouche was served: “red rice, mousse of cheese with saffron” which was simple but great to trigger your taste buds.

The pasta of the day were “ravioli with ricotta and spinach, sage and butter” (CHF 26.00) and while at first I was a bit skeptical considering that one ravioli would roughly cost CHF 4.30 that feeling went a way rather quickly as the ravioli were actually absolutely great.

The main dish was a “tartare di manzo” (CHF 39.00) and something happened which I have not experienced in a long time. I was served a small “piece” of my tartare before the actual tartare was served in order to assess if the seasoning was according to my liking. And it absolutely was! The tartare was simple but rich in taste.

The atmosphere of the La Cucina di Alice is lovely, it feels like a family owned and run restaurant while definitely having higher standards judging by the service. The waiters were extremely attentive, friendly, swift. Just as service is supposed to be. The prices are a bit at the higher end for Lugano but I would still recommend a visit – and to book a table in advance!
