A great view over Baku: Floor 3 Terrace Garden Restaurant (25. March 2016)

The old city of Baku is absolutely lovely and the small streets are great to get lost – you can’t actually get lost as the city is too small but it feels great to wander around. I randomly passed this place, respectively saw a sign for a rooftop terrace where I figured I should give it a try – and it was definitely worth it. You get to sit on the roof top with a nice view over Baku, respectively parts of it and over the old city.

The service is attentive and friendly and also swift. After having placed the order, the pita bread was served within a couple of minutes …

which was for the “hummus” (4 AZN) and the “Baba Ghanoush (eggplant, tahini, garlic, lemon and ricotta cheese, greens)” (5 AZN). While the pita bread was rich the hummus was not entirely to my liking as it had – for my personal gusto – not a strong enough flavor of chick peas. The Baba Ghanoush on the other hand was actually quite delicious.

I like to eat foie gras from time to time and I actually decided to have foie gras even in places where you would not expect great foie gras. Well, and every so often you get really positively surprised. The “foie gras with apples and exotic liqueur sauce” (30 AZN) was one of the best foie gras I have had in the last couple of months. The foie gras was tender, smooth, no nerves, already good. But the liqueur sauce with the apples and the grapes was amazing. So flavourful, so rich, so much bliss.

I was really looking forward to the “fresh pomegranate juice” (5 AZN) and while it was actually tasty it was way too intense. Only after having had a few sips and adding some water to it, it actually started tasting pleasantly, respectively not to intense. The espresso (4 AZN) and the Badamli (0,6L) (2 AZN) were fine price-wise.

Overall, the Floor 3 Terrace Garden Restaurant is a great place to have a small lunch in the old city and most likely also to have dinner in the evening when you are seated outside on the terrace under the stars. Great location, great view, good food (great foie gras), fair prices and attentive and friendly waiters.
