Mixology bar with drinks advisor: The Bar Marqués (13. May 2016)
You are not sure what you want to drink? You prefer a certain type of alcohol but don’t really have a favourite drink? But you still somehow expect that the bar keeper makes something which fits your taste perfectly without even knowing what your taste is? Well, the Bar Marqués makes sure that exactly that happens. Once seated, a bar tender comes to your table to ask you what is your favourite – with giving away some information about your favourite type of alcohol and the drinks you generally have, he will then create a drink to your liking. The drink I had, had “no name” (EUR 10.00) as it was apparently customized to my gusto.
I absolutely like the concept that you are advised on your drink – like really consulted. However, I must admit while the drinks were good and did match my taste in general, none of the ones I have tried that evening were actually outstanding. Good, great fit, but nothing more than that. Probably more a question of expectation, however, I was slightly disappointed. What I consider a bit special too is the fact that you can only pay by cash. No cards accepted, not even Maestro.
Other than that, the bar is located in the basement of a restaurant and definitely worth seeing. Relaxed, nice, atmospheric. In addition to that we were informed that they would serve cigars soon – which would make the spot pretty much perfect. Recommended!
