Fair hotel food @ Axis Bar & Lobby Lounge @ Hilton Düsseldorf (10. June 2016)
The “onion soup” (EUR 7.00) which seemed to be a Euro special was better than expected – definitely does not match a real French onion soup but it was actually quite decent.
The “Caesar salad with chicken and anchovies” (EUR 18.10) on the other hand was a bit of a disappointment. Overall, it was okay but the bread crumbs were not only huge but also not really crumbs but more like soggy bread pillows. Not really the way you would want your bread crumbs to be.
The bread and spread selection you get when you are seated after you have placed your order is okay but the spread itself does not taste that special really
The prices are really hotel prices – too expensive for what you get. This is especially true for the wine – a glass (0,2L) of Rioja accounts for EUR 13.00. And a bottle of San Pellegrino (0,75L) for EUR 9.90. The atmosphere of the bar is soso – not really that much of an amazing place and the screen the had set up to show the opening game of the Euro definitely has room for improvement. At least the service was not only swift but also friendly and not complicated at all. If you stay at the Hilton – fine, else, don’t go.
