Watching people for hours at the new port: Roussos Café (16. July 2016)
I was warned before ordering a “frappé” – and I didn’t listen which turned out to be a huge mistake. Now, the “frappé” is yet another coffee-based drink. As usually double espresso even before going to sleep doesn’t do anything to me, I decided a frappé (which sounded lighter) at 8pm is absolutely fine. Well, I was wrong! Do you know the feeling when you are laying in your bed with closed eyes and your body is just like “nope, not gonna sleep!”. Well, that is what happens when you have a frappé before going to bed.
The view from the harbour is breathtaking though, especially during sundown. The perfect spot to enjoy the evening before walking back to the house.
The next evening, I decided to not have a frappé again but go for a “Freddo Espresso” (EUR 3.00) which was definitely with less caffeine than a frappé. A typical Greek sweet for kids is the so-called “submarine” and I went for the “Mastica Submarine” (EUR 2.50) which is basically something kind creamy and gluey on a spoon which is served in a glass of water. Very particular – but I actually liked it quite a bit.
Overall, the Roussos Café is the perfect spot to sit down and enjoy the evening, especially when you get to score a table at the very harbour shore. The place is not exactly the most beautiful one but it does not matter as it is great with its view.
