French breakfast in Kiev: Restaurant Très Français (23. July 2016)
Admittedly, I did not expect to find a good French breakfast in the Ukraine but actually, the Restaurant Très Français offers exactly that. Located close to the Maidan, you get to sit outside in a small side street enjoying the sun and having a “French breakfast” (87 UAH; ~3.10 EUR).
Somehow, the Ukrainians like pancakes – but they are not really any similar to the pancakes we know. The “Cottage Cheese pancakes” are smooth and light and can be eaten with savory sauces like dip, or sweet elements like jam.
The “Croissant Jambon with Camembert” (102 UAH) is as good as the regular French breakfast.
And while it takes them ages to prepare an “omelet with bacon and ham”, it is actually worth the wait as it is one of the best omelets I have ever had.
The atmosphere is lovely, the view is nice and the dishes are great. Looking at the prices – a visit at the Très Français is a true bargain. But there is one thing which you should consider – be patient! It takes very long for them to bring you your beverages, your dishes, and the bill. So, if you are in a rush – don’t come here. If you are having all the time of your life, definitely come here for breakfast!
