When Graubünden meets Zurich: Gian & Nico’s Jdaburg (28. July 2016)
The last time I have been to Jdaburg it had other owners (see review). Gian and Nico are the new owners and they do a great job. When you sit outside the atmosphere is lovely and – despite waiting for a bit too long to place the order for my personal gusto – the beverages were brought within minutes.
I went for the “fresh anchovies from the Mediterranean sea with olive oil, lemon juice, and fresh mint” (CHF 16.50) and while I would usually say that Switzerland is not the place to order fish from the Mediterranean sea but this was actually delicious. The anchovies are fresh and rich. The simplicity of olive oil and lemon juice with the fresh anchovies makes it a formidable dish.
The same kind of applied to the main course – glamour in its simplicity! The “home-made tagliatelle with ricotta, Borettana pearl onions braised in balsamico and dried tomatoes” (CHF 24.00) were outstanding. The pasta was al dente, the sauce creamy, and the slight sourness of the pearl onions stewed in balsamico just gave the dish the little extra!
The service is friendly and swift (after the initial time it took to take up our drink orders and the menu), the atmosphere is lovely, the dishes are great, and last but not least, the prices are very fair for Zurich.
