Great Oriental brunch in a city garden: Restaurant Maison Blunt (1. August 2016)
According to Google, Maison Blunt offers the best brunch in Zurich. Ready to believe but only once personally persuaded, it was finally time to have brunch here. The “Blunts home breakfast – oriental style” with “croissants, home-made bread, jam, butter, hummus, feta purree, cucumber mint salad, pickled spicy carrots, yogurt with fresh fruit, dried fruit, pita bread, and 1dl fresh orange juice” (CHF 22.00) does not look like too much when served but once you start eating you realize that the selection of dishes is actually more than enough.
Especially once you see the basket of bread, you realize that it is more than enough. I loved the spicy pickled carrots and the hummus but I must admit that the feta purree has its very own distinct taste which was not entirely to my liking.
The place is not only good in terms of brunch – but it is also quite a bargain considering how much of good food you get for a very reasonable price. And the same is kind of true for the beverages, i.e. a double espresso accounts for CHF 5.50, and a 0,3L Mango Lassi for CHF 6.00. There is a little garden at the end of the restaurant and it is absolutely worth trying to get a table in the garden as the place is truly lovely and quiet in the middle of Zurich.
