Surprisingly good Italian cuisine where you’d not expect it: Restaurant Ca’D’Oro (1. October 2016)

| November 2, 2016 | 0 Comments

Honestly, I would never have walked into the Ca’D’Oro just because it is right next to the main train station. And admittedly, that is maybe a bit ignorant but it does not look too appealing from the outside – especially, as the first part of the restaurant is a pizza to go place. But TripAdvisor persuaded me that I should maybe give the restaurant a try.

When you pass that part of the restaurant and go to the back, it looks a bit more appealing so we decided to have a seat and order us some food. I went for the “Caprese Bufala D.O.P” (EUR 10.50) as a starter and while I was skeptical about what I was going to receive, I must admit that it was actually quite good. The tomatoes were not entirely ripe but then again it is not really tomato season anymore.

The “ravioli con burro e salvia” (EUR 12.90) were good but a bit overcooked for my personal gusto. I liked the sage on top of the ravioli and they were quite well-stuffed but as you can see on the picture, they were quite stingy with the parmesan cheese at first. Luckily, the second waiter showed up again seconds after the first had left and offered more cheese.

Overall, the Restaurant Ca’D’Oro is absolutely okay to eat something at in case you are hungry, are close to the train main station, and do not want to wait too long until something is served. The atmosphere of the place is rather average but they make up for that with the friendly service and the fair prices (also true for beverages, i.e. “lemon lemonade”, EUR 3.70; 0,75L San Pellegrino, EUR 5.90).
