Perverted food abundance – Bubbalicious Brunch: The Westin Dubai Mina Seyahi Beach Resort & Marina (28. October 2016)

SERIOUSLY PERVERTED! And also quite fun at the same time! But even after two weeks I can’t wrap my head around the sheer amount of food which is displayed and served at the “Bubbalicious Brunch” at the Westin Dubai. For 680 AED a person you get all the food you can possibly (!!!) imagine! Including all the “Bubbly” you want!

… and oysters … oysters all you can eat. There were two guys opening oysters full time for four hours in a row. I mean, their job is just opening up oysters! For four hours! And you can eat as many as you want!

… a whole suckling pig. Just like that. And obviously, this wasn’t the only one which was served that day. There were a couple of those.

… and more! I mean, who eats cheese when it is approximately 30 degrees Celsius inside? And you are already stuffed with all the delicacies which are served? However, the sheer abundance of different types of cheese is beyond everything I have ever seen.

And there is even one incredibly big loaf of cheese – not that anybody would take some of it. Well, with one exception. The table next to ours cut off a big junk of cheese – just to bring it to the table and show it off. To bring it back right after that. I mean, if you just get food to your table to impress others, then that is seriously off!

Of course it was not done with that – there was a booth with various cold cuts …

… and when you thought it can’t be that there is more food. Then you walk into yet another room to discover, hey, there is salads and fruits …

… and when you are already thinking, oh come on, noone can eat so much food, you realize, there is more!

There is even a whole CANDY HOUSE! It is a proper house and it is just filled with candy! All over!

While this definitely must be a paradise for kids – it just left me absolutely stunned! Like, I couldn’t close my jaw! It was soooooooo much!

So, once you are kind of done with the rooms inside, you realize (and okay, it took my like two hours to do so), that there is more! YES! Even more! So when you walk outside there is a food truck where they serve “duck” (with an admittedly super funny tag line “what the duck?”). And hell, I very often thought that day – “what the duck!?!?!”!

And then there is a grass food truck where you get smoothies …

… and finally a booth with fresh fruit!

And obviously, you would maybe want some Western stuff like bacon …

… or some Indian dishes like “curry” …

… or just because there is not enough meat inside, you would maybe want some meat from outside? I mean, why not, right? If the grill is located outside, it definitely is super different!

Or maybe feel like a pizza? Just in the middle of the burning hot sun? Just kind of in case you feel like – meh, no, I don’t really want to have all that abundance of food, I stick to a pizza.

What is amazing though, truly speaking, is not only the abundance of food but also the quality! I mean, everything I tasted, and I tasted quite a lot – was actually delicious. There was absolutely nothing I have tried which I didn’t like. Imagine that! There is probably a square kilometer of food and whatever I took, I liked it! That is seriously impressing. And not only that, also how much effort they put into preparing the food and making sure it does not only taste good but it also looks super well prepared.

Oh, sorry, I forgot to mention. There is also fish and chips. Just another booth serving some more food …

The brunch takes from 1pm to 4pm so only three hours (which makes the whole thing even more perverted) – but at 4pm sharp, they stop serving – including alcoholic beverages. Therefore, obviously, if you want to keep going after 4pm (and they only start to kind of kick you out around 5pm) you have to start hording. So we had an incredibly amount of booze on our table. The water melons look healthy – but they are filled with vodka.

And while there are some things I have not seen but my friends showed me on pictures after like a whole tuna (where approx. 3/4 will go to waste) …

… there was one thing which absolutely won! And not in a positive sense! There was a whole coffin prepared out of FOIE GRAS! And it was so remote it seems like nobody ate it. Imagine, a whole coffin made of foie gras?!?!?

And just because it was Halloween and they were able to do it, they made this monster hand out of foie gras!!! I mean, come on, as if the coffin was not already more than enough! Even a monster hand?!

The atmosphere of the place is nice but nothing outstanding and the service is friendly and generally helpful and yes the “free flowing bubbly” is really flowing at all times. There is always like two people with bottles in their hands around the table to top up immediately in case your glass goes even close to being empty.

What doesn’t work too well though is the “cleaning” of the table. Given there is so much food, you would obviously want to try a lot. And that sometimes has the – sad – effect that you end up leaving a piece of food on your plate. However, they are not really helpful in cleaning the table (it is more of a lucky shot if they actually take something off the table or not).

If you are in Dubai for a Friday you should definitely do the “Bubbalicious Brunch”. It is the biggest abundance of food but the selection as well as the quality is absolutely impressive. Therefore, go for it. But it is nothing for the weak-hearted who overthink things. The abundance is the biggest one I have ever seen in my entire life and in visiting over 2’000 restaurants!
