First cheese fondue of the year: Restaurant Fribourger Fonduestübli (2. November 2016)
The first cheese fondue of the year always tastes outstanding and the “La Fondue Fribourgeoise (moitié-moitié)” (CHF 28.50 per person) definitely qualifies as tasting great. The fondue is creamy and has an intense but yet lovely cheese taste.
It is a couple of years ago since I first had cheese fondue with not only bread and potatoes but also “pineapples and pears” (CHF 5.90) and while it is something definitely tasty, I still prefer the classic cheese fondue.
The wine selection is rather dim but I managed to find a “Gran Reserva” (CHF 59.00) which was quite fine. Definitely among the best picks on the menu. The place itself is small, quite crammed, and you definitely have to book a table in advance as else you won’t actually stand a chance to score a table. The service is generally attentive and brings your order within no time but somehow I still do not see that it is fun to them. I mean, I already had this impression the last two times I was here – and it still hasn’t changed.
