The new Westin Club – lacking atmosphere: Westin Club @ The Westin Hamburg (5. November 2016)

I am a huge fan of Starwood and its properties and you can imagine my excitement to actually experience a hotel opening (my first so far) and I was really positively surprised about the lovely welcoming, check-in, and the amazing Panorama Suite (#1116). However, I had my issues with the Westin Club.

Once I finally managed to enter (which proofed difficult as my card was apparently not working properly so I had to get down to get a new card twice until it worked), I was a bit surprised as it looked very empty (okay, not a big surprise – first day it was open). But somehow, it did not only look empty but also somewhat ‘liveless’.

For the fact that it newly opened it just somehow looked very sterile, very clean, very non-emotional which I definitely think is a pity given you just opened the restaurant. And the colors of everything were just not appealing to me – as I said ‘liveless’.

I came just in time for the evening snack and while I was not liking the atmosphere, the little snacks were definitely good prepared with the finest ingredients. There was ham, gorgonzola, vegetables, …

… roastbeef and salmon. High-quality ingredients and the dishes were actually very tasty. As I was only there for early snacks dinner (around 5pm), I am not sure if they also serve warm dishes for dinner or lunch, but they should definitely consider that.

Overall, the Westin Club at The Westin Hamburg was a bit of a disappointment for me – not so much food-wise but definitely a lack of atmosphere. Maybe they should check with some of their sister hotels like the “Sheraton Club Lounge @ Sheraton Grand Esplanade Berlin, Executive Lounge @ Sheraton Lisboa, Executive Lounge @ Sheraton Grand Rio Hotel, Rio de Janeiro or even the lounges under the same management (Arabellapark Hotels) like the Club Lounge @ Sheraton Arabellapark, Munich or the Westin Executive Club Lounge @ The Westin Grand, Munich.
