Great lobster in fun party place: Restaurant Burger & Lobster Bank (2. December 2016)

| January 3, 2017 | 0 Comments

I tried to get a table at the ‘Burger & Lobster Bank’ already a couple of times but so far I never have succeeded. However, it seemed to have been my lucky day. I called around 5pm to get a table and was lucky enough to actually score a table with the limitation that it would only be available from 8pm to 9:30pm. Luckily, it turned out that a solution could be found and we were able to spend the evening there.

As a starter I went for “roastbeef, sweet mustard espuma, and herb salad” (EUR 13.50). The roastbeef was very tender and perfectly aromatic. The sweet mustard espuma had a slight hint of horseradish but actually went perfectly with the meat.

As a main course, I went for their signature dish, the “BLB’s Original Surf+Turf; 150gr beef filet, half a lobster, grilled” (EUR 49.50) and it was admittedly a very positive surprise. The quality of the meat is good but there are not ‘grill flavours’ to the meat which makes it too smooth. The grilled lobster on the other hand was better than expected. The meat was sweet, absolutely luscious.

As a side dish, I went for the “Piemientos de Padrón” (EUR 4.90) which were a bit burned – unfortunately. Given it was just a side dish and you would actually have absolutely enough with just the main, I didn’t see a need to eat them all.

The selection of wines they offer is quite outstanding – to start, we went for a “La Montesa DOC 2012” (EUR 49.00), then a “Bricco dell’Uccellone, 2014, Braida” (EUR 99.00 – instead of 2013 as depicted on the menu) and last but not least for a “Brunello di Montalcino, Gaja” (EUR 119.00).

The restaurant smells quite intensely like meat and lobster. But the place is actually very cool and atmospheric and after some time turns into a club where people start dancing – which definitely makes it a cool place. The waiter, Marcel, did an outstanding job that evening. He was not only friendly and caring but also quite jovial but in a pleasant way. And the drinks are good and fair in price – i.e. “Moscow Mule” and “Munich Mule” account for EUR 12.50 – only the bottle of water with EUR 8.00 each is a bit over the top.

For me, definitely a nice place – one you should check out when you are in Munich! Just make sure you book your table way in advance because scoring one last minute really is a question of a lot of luck!
