Perfect after work drinks – but gets crowded soon: Restaurant Loft Five (7. December 2016)
If you are having good bye drinks and want to save a table for 5-6 people around 6pm, this proofs very difficult as the place gets very crammed easily – and secondly, they do not take reservations for parties below 10 (and that includes a minimal consumption). But if you are lucky enough to be a bit earlier than the majority and actually keep the seats for 20+ minutes until everybody has arrived, the bar is actually quite nice. The waitress was friendly and attentive and the prices for the drinks are absolutely fair (i.e. 0,5L water, CHF 6.50; 1dl, ‘Dehesa de los Canonis’, CHF 9.00).
The selection when it comes to dishes to share is not too large so we went for the “Tortilla Chips” (CHF 9.00) and the “Potato Dippers” (CHF 9.50). While I was actually expecting nothing ; I must say, that I was positively surprised because the potato dippers were actually rich and the sauces served with the potato chips were good too.
For a second round, we went for a “classical tarte flambée with bacon and onions” (CHF 16.00) which was rich but the bacon could have been applied more generously.
Overall, the Restaurant Loft Five is not only nice for lunch or the like but also for an afterwork drink in the bar area – given you manage to score a table. Reservations for parties larger than 10, definitely recommended!
