Very local tapas bar with the real Spanish experience: Taberna El Rincón de José (9. December 2016)
The Taberna El Rincón de José was a recommendation from the hotel and it was an outstanding one. The place is relatively small but very crowded even in the early afternoon – and there are just locals. And the place is very local too as the knowledge of English is rather limited. However, they are friendly and helpful and I had asked for some “Tortilla” which was great.
The “Jamón de Iberico” was the way you would imagine it freshly cut from the leg …
… however, when you watch the waitress for some time, you realize she uses the same rag for everything. To clean the desk, to clean the knife, to clean her hands. Well, the majority is food-related stuff, sure, but it is somehow not too hygenic.
Looking at the cheese, I would have expected “manchego” but it was actually more “parmesan like” cheese which was a bit surprising but not bad.
However, the place is absolutely worth visiting as it is very much the local experience you can get and with a total of EUR 25.00 (incl. tip) for the above plus two beers it is super cheap.
