Amazing bargain for a Zurich lunch: Restaurant Gärtnerei Seefeld (11. January 2017)
While the Gärtnerei is not really a place I would have thought of to go because always assuming it was vegetarian, it turned out that it is actually a place I can imagine ending up at more often. I went for the lunch menu which offers a salad to pick (medium size), a soup, and a bottle of water for only CHF 19.90 (which is a great deal for lunch). I went for the “salad of the month”, “The Burner (oak leaf lettuce, spinach, carrots, cucumber, chick peas, avocado, apple, chicken, pomegranate and hemp seed) which was absolutely delicious and despite not having any carbs, you would well-fed after. The soup portion (although ‘only’ medium) is big enough too so you get a very decent lunch menu for a more than fair price.
In terms of atmosphere, the place is nice, definitely simple and functional but nice. Sitting close to the entrance though during winter time is not really a great idea as it is quite cold. With regards to service – there is none. You queue, get your stuff, and sit down. So it is not really a ‘restaurant’ in its classical sense but more a take away with a sit in.
