A hassle to get up here when it’s snowing: Restaurant Habergschwänd (14. January 2017)
It is incredibly cumbersome to get on the mountain top when the weather is bad – you ride a chairlift which is open, so you are freezing cold within minutes. Once you arrive at the top, there is basically no other choice than entering the restaurant to warm yourself up. And given I didn’t have breakfast that day I was starving and was incredibly tempted by the “garnished sausage and cheese salad” (CHF 17.00 on the menu, CHF 15.00 charged). The salad had a broader variety than I had expected but it was actually quite tasty. Definitely nothing special but good and hearty.
The price was also rather decent which is not so true for the water though. 0,5l of bottled Valser accounted for CHF 5.00. I get it, all the stuff has to get up the mountain somehow which is – admittedly – cumbersome but CHF 5.00 is too much. The restaurant itself is a typical mountain restaurant but doesn’t really have much of an atmosphere. Perfect to warm up and slide down (slide rental for CHF 5.00 for one ride).
