Hidden location but outstanding drinks and food: KOPPER (11. February 2017)

OUTSTANDING! Can’t say much more than that. I mean, there is one little flaw – you almost miss the place if you do not know about it. If it wasn’t for a friend’s birthday party, I would probably have never ended up here. But you should end up here! The place is tricky to find but once you’re in, you will immediately like the atmosphere as the place is not only nicely decorated but once you’ve gotten the first drink, you will love it even more. I started with “Carrot” which was basically a carrot juice based drink – absolutely loved it.

But it even gets better – next in line was a “beetroot with butter milk” drink. Sounds weird? Yeah, it kind of is – however, it is absolutely worth trying it as the drink tastes like nothing I’ve tried before. And Alex, the head bar keeper, and his team do an outstanding job in preparing all these drinks. Frankly, I cannot recall the names of the upcoming drinks …

… but maybe this one. It is originally a “gin basil smash” – given I’m not a big fan of gin, I got an especially prepared “vodka basil smash”. Amazing!

Now, happy guessing starts but in any case this drink …

… and this drink …

… as well as this drink – all of them were good! So you should definitely bring time and try out all – or at least the majority – of the drinks offered in the KOPPER.

But the whole concept is not only cool because the atmosphere is nice and the drinks are good – also because the food is actually delicious. Franz, the head chef, does an outstanding job at preparing various dishes starting from fried leaves I was not entirely able to identify anymore …

… to tacos tasting absolutely heavenly! They were so luscious and mouth-watering that I can still feel the taste in my mouth now that I’m writing this.

There was a huge mountain of whipped butter to dip your bread in which was also quite nice but obviously pure sin!

In addition to that, they served “scallops on a spoon” – and while I am always quite reluctant to eat scallops since O Paparico back in 2015 when they were incredibly delicious, these scallops were absolutely good!

Late at night, the Udon noodles with pomegranate seeds and minced meat really added to the happiness of all the participants!

And last but not least, the course to finish off the evening was an outstanding beef tartare – definitely one of the better ones I’ve had.

To sum it up, the Restaurant KOPPER is quite a unique place in Munich – you get outstanding drinks, and you get outstanding dishes, and you get them in an outstanding atmosphere, with incredibly friendly people! This is how I imagine my favourite go to place!
