Surprisingly great Thai dishes in a canteen-like atmosphere: Cha Cha Thai Positive Eating (21. February 2017)
Apparentyl, the Cha Cha is a chain but I have never heard of it – however, given geographical proximity and the need to try something new, brought me into Cha Cha. And I was actually quite positively surprised. I went for the “Massaman beef curry (marinated braised Swiss beef in a mildly spicy peanut coconut fond cooked with potatoes and onions – served with our cha chà rice)” (CHF 26.80). The dish was served within a couple of minutes and while it looked quite tiny at first, it turned out to be a good portion.
But it wasn’t only a good portion in terms of size but also in terms of taste. The curry is intense but not too spicy and the ingredients are fresh and rich. The “hibiscus drink with ginger and lemon on ice” (CHF 4.50, 0,3l) was fine too but is a bit too red for my gusto, threatening white shirts quite extensively. The service is swift and friendly but the atmosphere is only so so. It emits more the feeling of a canteen than of a restaurant – but still worth visiting for a quick lunch.
