Perfect gnocchi in an authentic Italian restaurant: Restaurant Facincani (2. March 2017)
I walked by recently the Restaurant Facincani and when it was recommended to me by a colleague it was definitely time to visit. The place is rather simple in its design but generally lovely as it reminds you of a small Italian place – but a bit more spacious like you’re used to it in Switzerland. As a starter, I went fr the “Gnocchi di Patate al Gorgonzola” (CHF 16.00) which were great in taste – the Gorgonzola could have been a bit more intense to match my personal gusto but the consistency of the gnocchi was outstanding.
As a main course, I went for the “fegato – veal liver with apples and polenta” (CHF 25.00). The fegato was aromatic and the meat was perfect in terms of taste – the sweetness of the apples is something I haven’t had in combination with liver but it fit perfectly. The portion of polenta was bit small compared to the whole dish but overall, definitely a great dish.
The service was very attentive at first when we were seated and the order was taking rather quickly. The waiter even let us know that – if we’d ordered from the menu – it might take a while. Definitely friendly to let us know, however, I would personally have preferred no warning but the main course being served quicker. Overall, the Restaurant Facincani is a great Italian restaurant you should definitely visit when you are in St. Gallen.
