Traditional Italian cucina with jovial waiter: Restaurant L’Osteria Mamma Leone (7. March 2017)

| April 23, 2017 | 0 Comments

I was poking around on Google Maps to find a restaurant I haven’t visited yet and which was close to my meeting location and I randomly got across the L’Osteria Mamma Leone – and it was a good choice. I get why the restaurant is ranked rather good (with 4.6) on Google. Part of the menu is a “salad” which is not only quite large in portion but has more than just the regular green leaves with a tasty sauce.

I went for the “Pizza Prosciutto (tomato, mozzarella, oregano, ham)” (CHF 20.50) with additional anchovies which were not charged – almost a first for me. The pizza was nice as it had a thin crust and was quite aromatic.

While the place doesn’t look too appealing from outside, it is actually quite nicely decorated once you are seated (or at least that is when you’ll realize it). And what is quite outstanding is the service – not because everything works perfectly but because the waiter is dedicated and jovial and admits mistakes if he makes any (like forgetting for a while to bring the second bottle of water). Making it a comfortable and friendly experience.

Besides that, the prices are absolutely decent – I mean, where do you get a pizza with additional ingredients and a huge salad as a starter for CHF 20.50 only? See, I don’t know either where else! And that is also true for the prices for the beverages (i.e. 0,5l San Pellegrino, CHF 5.80; double espresso, CHF 4.60). So, overall, the Osteria Mamma Leone is definitely a place you can visit for lunch – make sure to book your table in advance though!
