Yet another good evening at the Restaurant Brasserie Freilager (8. March 2017)

Out of convenience, I ended up at the Restaurant Brasserie Freilager again (given I live really close) and as always, the evening started with “cold cuts from the Grisons” which is a lovely start and I like that the meat is not as dry as it often is.

As a starter, I went for the “Marktgasse Glas (potato foam, egg, spinach, black truffle)” (CHF 23.00) which was on the pricier side for a starter but it was actually quite tasty as the different flavours of the ingredients went really well together.

While I was not entirely sure what would expect me when ordering the “beef paillard “Ojo de Agua” (with roasted broccoli, white wine risotto, and salsa verde)” (CHF 36.00) I was quite positively surprised. While the meat – at first – looked not too appealing, I changed my opinion shortly after trying the first bite. Not only because it was actually delicious but also because it was a thin schnitzel just rolled up so it looked like not so good meat but was actually quite delicious. The white wine risotto was heavy and smooth at the same time and my favourite element on the plate was actually the roasted broccoli. It wasn’t dry as it often is if served from the grill but it was juicy and at the same time it carried a grill flavour – loved it!

The service was again okay – only this time it took quite some time to serve the main but else, nothing to complain. Overall, still a great place to go – and while you might be lucky to score a table by walking in on a Monday night, you won’t stand a chance on a Wednesday! I mean, the place was completely booked!
