Themed restaurant – but also a place not to visit: Restaurant Texas Steakhouse (15. March 2017)

Usually, the sum of online reviews is not that far off the truth – however, this time, it was quite untrue. The Restaurant Texas Steakhouse Farbhof has been rebranded only recently which is why I did not ‘realize’ what location it was. But let’s start one after the other – I went for the “tombstone plate for two (garlic bread flûte, crispy bacon, mini bison medallion, chicken)” (CHF 19.80). The food was okay – and the mini bison medallion was actually even quite good but the bacon wasn’t really crispy but rather oily and greasy.

As a main, I went for the “Tex Bacon Burger with crispy bacon (200gr) and French fries” (CHF 23.70). Well, yeah … the French fries are super regular. The patty is a pre-made patty (so nothing fresh there) and the bacon was again more greasy than crispy. So, to sum it up – to fill your stomach: good. To have a taste experience: not so good!

I guess, one could have assumed that given the ‘interior’ as it was very ‘motto-like’ as one might imagine a place in the wild west in the US. At least the prices were overall okay (not expensive) including the beverages (i.e. double espresso, CHF 5.80; 0,5l water, CHF 5.90). While we were the only guests so the waiter wouldn’t be too busy, he decided twice while we were eating to basically leave the premise! Interesting concept to ‘attend guests’. I guess, this might – partially – explain why we were the only guests. I wonder though how this place survives!

So to sum it up – the impression from outside remains the impression after I have been inside: Don’t go! Which still keeps me wondering how the hell they go their 4.5 stars online. But well, I guess tastes are different! This is definitely not mine though!
