Presto – get inspired on what and where to eat in Zurich
Do you know this moment when you are hungry? Like, really hungry? And you are looking for a restaurant somewhere close by but still you don’t have the time to check out all the menus of the restaurants in your vicinity? You do? Then there is the perfect solution for you – Presto!
The app was launched late 2016 and has a pretty simple but still genius functionality. It shows pictures of dishes served at restaurants in your vicinity so you can get inspired on what the restaurants offer but also, and more importantly, on what you feel like eating. The pictures are of high quality and help increasing your appetite.
When you tap a picture, you see which restaurant offers these dishes, what is the address of the restaurant and after another tap on said address you can see the necessary information on the restaurant like opening hours, payment options, and phone number as well as a map. There is a functionality to call the restaurant right away (which is quite convenient).
So, if you want to be inspired on where to eat out and what to eat – somewhat in your vicinity – then Presto is great. However, there are a couple of things I’d do differently – I would personally be interested to sort the pictures “by distance” which is a filter you cannot apply. But you have the option to get to see only restaurants which are open now, the price range of the dishes (between CHF 0 and CHF 75) as well as the distance (but this does not include a sort function). Plus, for all those of you who are somewhat intolerant to anything, you have the chance to sort between “gluten-free”, “lactose-free”, “organic”, “vegan”, and “vegetarian”. Personally, missing “carnivore” here but hey, I suppose that’s not an “intolerance” ;-) Furthermore, there is the possibility to filter for certain cuisines – currently there are 10 options and it doesn’t go beyond that – so it is more of a “filter function” than a “search function”.
What is quite nice is the option to like certain dishes so the app learns what you like and adapts to that.
To sum it up, Presto is the perfect app to get inspired if you’re hungry and want to eat out but maybe don’t have a clear picture of what exactly you’re looking for and where you want to go!
