26. August 2010: Restaurant Bauschänzli

| September 1, 2010 | 0 Comments

The Restaurant Bauschänzli (aka Biergarten) is located in the river Limmat on an artifical stone. It’s in walking distance from Paradeplatz and Bellevue. It’s therefore easily reachable by public transportation. Also, there are quite a few parking lots around this area which is why you can also access the area by car.

In its vicinity are several bars and restaurants like the terrasse, the restaurant Le Cèdre Bellevue, or the Ristorante Molino-Select Zürich Limmat-Quai

The place is accessible by a little bridge and is basically an open-air garden-area with a lot of tables. This implies that you’ll have to help yourself and get your drinks and food to your table as it is a self-service restaurant mainly. The dirty dishes and empty glasses are taken from your table but that’s about it with regards to service. The atmosphere is nice nevertheless as they often have some kind of live music, the place is always crowded and you’re feeling like being in the middle of the river.

The food is really hearty and the selection provides a nice variety of typical Swiss dishes. The prices are absolutely okay although maybe a bit high for the fact that you have to get the things yourself.

Besides that, the Restaurant Bauschänzli is a cool place to have a couple of beers in the evening with friends or to just eat something hearty. Especially in the summer month, it’s a really nice place to go to.
