Exquisite service and delicious snails and oysters: Chez Antonin @ Les Halles De Lyon (Paul Bocuse) (25. March 2017)

| May 24, 2017 | 0 Comments

We walked up and down the isles of Les Halles a couple of times until we could decide where to have our lunch stop. And we went for Chez Antonin – a place specialized in French specialties like oysters and we went for “Spéciales le Gall (Bretagne), No. 2 – a Dozen” (EUR 29.00). I only tried on oyster given I am actually not a big fan of oysters but I must admit that it was quite delicious – not as salty as they usually are but smooth and lovely.

What I really liked though were the “Escargots de Bourgognes” (EUR 18.00) – a truly outstanding dish. Absolutely simple but the consistency was quite fine (and not as crunchy and hard as they often are) and the garlic sauce was absolutely delicious!

And if you combine the tasty dishes with a bottle of “Chablis Maison Joseph Drouin, 2007” (EUR 39.00) you are set for lunch! What I liked a lot about the place – besides the quality of the dishes was the fact that the service was very caring. We had asked for champagne but they didn’t have it by the glass – so the waitress went around and found a glass of champagne for us. Lovely! I mean, that is what I call service, respectively going the ‘extra mile’!

So, if you are into trying French food the ‘traditional way’ but a bit less down to earth, then I can definitely recommend you to visit Les Halles de Lyon which was founded by ‘Paul Bocuse’ which is painted on the wall of the building right next to the Les Halles.

So, to sum it up, you should definitely have lunch at the Chez Antonin in the Les Halles de Lyon! Highyl recommended – good dishes and incredibly caring service!
