Good bar to have a drink after Chapultepec: King Cole Bar @ The St. Regis Mexico City (14. April 2017)

| June 22, 2017 | 0 Comments

When you visit Mexico City, you have to talk a walk through Chapultepec – a huge park in the center of the city! And if you are there during a holiday or a weekend, it’s absolutely packed! It is really kind of incredible how big the park is – and it is actually quite beautiful, very green, you see a lot of squirrel and many people strolling. Additionally, ‘Los Pinos’, the official residence of the Mexican president is also to be found in the park.

After a long walk, there is a good bar around the corner in the St. Regis Mexico City – the King Cole Bar. I went for a “Sur de Mexico (Mezcal Union, Licor Ancho Reyes, Piña, Sal de Chapulin)” (210 MXN) which was interesting but not really the best drink I’ve had. However, it seems like I’ve had ordered the most standard drink of all. My friend had one which was served in a mug with a face which tasted apparently quite good and the other one ordered a drink which was served in a crumbled plastic cup – only, it was made of ceramic. So, quite interesting really. Mine was rather boring.

The bar itself is comfortable and generally nice, but frankly, I have had expected a bit more of a St. Regis bar – so I was a bit disappointed. However, the service made up for it – they were attentive, friendly, and even charged my phone.

Overall, the King Cole Bar is a good place to restore your energy with a drink or two after a long walk in the park – but it is obviously at the very upper limit of costs in Mexico City. One additional remark: If you are a SPG member, you get 10% discount! Just make sure to bring your SPG card or at least to know your SPG number.
