A restaurant with a concept and mediocre food: Restaurant Johnny Rockets (16. April 2017)

Frankly, Johnny Rockets is not a place I would usually pay a visit but after getting up at 3 a.m., 5 hours of flying, 2 hours of waiting for Sixt to be able to provide the rental car and finally arriving at the hotel 10 hours after getting up, Johnny Rockets around the corner seemed like the place to be. While the “The Spicy Houston (especialmente condimentada. preparada con chiles jalapeños, queso Pepper Jack, lechuga, tomate y nuestra exquisita salsa smokin’ chipotle)” (4’550 CRC) with “Bacon Cheese Fries” (1’150 CRC) – including a beverage with re-fill – was not the tastiest burger I’ve ever had and the cheese on the fries was quite plastic-y and not really cheesy, I must admit one thing.

The place has a concept! When you enter, the receiving waitress shouts ‘Hola!’ into the restaurant and all the employees shout back ‘Hola!!!’. A bit disturbing at first, but actually a nice touch. Secondly, there is 70ies music all over and sometimes the waitresses step out and dance to the music. Nice to watch, a nice concept, a nice idea – however, this slows down the service. While we were ready to order ‘our’ waitress was dancing – well, that’s nice, but doesn’t really serve the purpose. Last but not least, when you leave, the ‘responsible waitress’ shouts ‘Adios!’ and all the employees shout ‘Adios!’ again. So, to sum it up, overall, the Johnny Rockets is an experience – an interesting one but nevertheless one I don’t have to make again.
