The vegetarian place to be in Tamarindo: Restaurant La Bodega (19. April 2017)

La Bodega is the place to be for vegetarians, vegans, and people who are interested in eating organic dishes. I went for “The Vegetarian (balsamic marinated eggplant, sautéed zucchini, chimichurri roasted red pepper, hummus, avocado and queso fresco. Served with homemade plantain chips and your choice of fresh juice)” (5’000 CRC). The salad was lovely – it is nutritious, delicious in taste, and quite a portion. Only, you have to be very patient until you are attended and until anything is brought to your table.

The waitress is friendly, sure, but she is either doing everything alone in that place or is just slow. I had to wait a solid 20 minutes until my drink arrived, the “smoothie with fresh fruit, organic Greek yogurt, pure raw honey, chia seeds, and homemade peanut butter” (2’000 CRC) is definitely worth waiting for it, however, 20 minutes to bring that plus a bottle of water is a bit over the top. Not to speak about the food which takes another 15 minutes.

So, if you are patient …

… you will enjoy the place, the dishes, and the drinks. However, there is – besides the slow service – one more downside. Again, the place is built right next to the road so you have a lot of traffic. Something, I do not quite understand why they do not build something in places which are a bit more quiet.

If you are into healthy food which also tastes good – the La Bodega is the place you should visit in Tamarindo. Just make sure that you bring enough patience with you as it does take quite some time until anything arrives. If you are able and willing to deal with that – perfect place!
