Great in summer, average throughout the year: Restaurant Molino Frascati (28. April 2017)

| July 14, 2017 | 0 Comments

It is almost three years ago since I’ve last been at the Restaurant Molino Frascati (read review here!). So it was more than time to pay the restaurant a visit again. Originally, I had booked a table for two but we ended up being three people and luckily, it wasn’t a problem for the restaurant and they arranged so we got a table for three. It took a bit in the beginning until the menu was served and the waiter showed up to take up the order but luckily, my “Zuppa Al Pomodoro (tomato soup, refined with cream)” (CHF 10.00) was quite a portion.

I somehow felt like getting a type of meat I’m not getting every day so I ordered a “Fettina di Vitello Impanata (breaded veal schnitzel with sage butter)” (CHF 41.00) with “risotto al parmigiano” as a side dish. Obviously, my Austrian colleague was almost unable to believe that I would order a breaded veal schnitzel, she called ‘Wiener Schnitzel’, in an Italian restaurant. Admittedly, it wasn’t comparable to the original Wiener Schnitzel but it wasn’t bad at all. So, especially if you don’t know the original from Vienna, this is actually a very good ‘breaded veal schnitzel’.

The service is generally attentive but could be a tiny bit swifter – especially in the beginning during the process of seating, handing out menus, and taking up the order. After that it was absolutely fine. With regards to the prices, I would say they are generally okay, however, paying CHF 12.00 for 1L of San Pellegrino seems a bit over the top hitting my personal ‘threshold’ of paying more than CHF 10.00 for a water bottle. The CHF 6.00 for a “double espresso” on the other side seem legit. The place is quite fine but definitely way better if you get the chance to sit outside in the sun in summer – so if you can, go in summer!
