In memoriam Angelo Ferlin – a memorable experience: Restaurant Casa Ferlin (1. May 2017)

| July 18, 2017 | 0 Comments

The Casa Ferlin is one of these places in Zurich which you do not randomly walk into as it is not located centrally – but you definitely should walk in there as the place is very traditional and absolutely lovely. This lunch was held in the memory of Angelo Ferlin – and started with a variety of small morsels which were quite lovely.

With regards to the menu – it was designed to incorporate all the favourite dishes of Angelo starting with “Insalata D’Astice (lobster salad)” which was mouth-watering – despite the fact that the lobster was cold (something quite unusual in my experience) but it was delicious.

As a second course, the “Ravioli delizie di Angelo” were served – and you can buy pasta from the super market and you can try it in many different ways but if you ever get to try anything like the “Ravioli di Angelo”, you will understand what I say by “the best pasta there is”! Definitely one of the best pasta’s I’ve had in my entire life!

As a little course in between, a “Sgrappino Angelico” was served which is basically kind of a sorbet with a grappa base. Definitely something interesting I’ve never tried before but quite lovely in flavour and perfect to prepare your palate and stomach for the main course.

The main course was a “Filetto di Manzo all’Angelo, Risotto Champagne e Broccoli” – and while in other restaurants the meat is often not cooked perfectly, the meat was not only perfectly medium-rare but it was also delicious in terms of flavour and tenderness. And went incredibly well with the fruit and the champagne risotto – perfect combination.

Besides the fact that the dishes were outstanding you do realize a difference in terms of service compared to many average restaurants – unfortunately, I had to leave a bit earlier and the kitchen and the chef de service made it possible for me that my main course was served before everyone else’s so I could get out in time. Other then that, they are all very lovely and friendly making sure one is taken care of and your wine and water glass never empties.

The Restaurant Casa Ferlin is a place I can absolutely recommend you to visit – listen to the suggestions of the waiters, let yourself be surprised, and enjoy a lovely lunch or dinner!
