Have lunch here – if you can: Restaurant Haute (23. May 2017)

It is five years ago since I’ve last been at the Haute, so I was looking forward and was quite curious on how the lunch would be. You’re welcomed super friendly, they know the member by name (something I didn’t notice last time) and bring you to your table right away. I went for the menu (CHF 54.00) and as a starter I’ve had the “pea apple soup with mint” which looked not only incredibly green but was also rather green in taste while being refreshing due to the apple and mint combination.

As a main course, I went for the “hanging tender of beef with cima di rapa, anchovy, bell pepper, pointed cabbage, duchesse potatoes and gravy”. The beef was tender and aromatic and went super well with the gravy. What I liked a lot was the pointed cabbage soaking in gravy – the duchesse potatoes on the other hand were a bit too dry for my personal gusto.

The dessert, “raspberries with white chocolate and amaretti” did not only look great it was also superb in taste. Smooth, creamy, luscious overall with a hint of ‘fresh’ due to the fresh raspberries. Overall, I can absolutely recommend you to take the chance if you get to dine at the members only club Haute. The place is also absolutely stunning in terms of view – if it wasn’t for a few cranes blocking the view you’d have undisturbed vision onto Lake Zurich.

The service is caring but sometimes a bit too slow for my personal gusto as all tables are booked but there don’t seem to be enough waiters to attend everyone in the same frequency. However, when they are around, they are super attentive. One of our party was sneezing and within 10 seconds the waiter stood there with a tissue box in his hand for the guest – something I’ve never quite seen before. To sum it up, if you have the chance to become a member or to have lunch or dinner at the Haute, you should definitely do it!
