Former St. Regis but not at the top of its glory anymore: Restaurant Saints @ The Hongta Hotel, A Luxury Collection (27. May 2017)
Apparently, the Hongta Hotel was the first St. Regis in Asia – unfortunately, there is not too much of that former glamor left. The hotel itself is definitely functional and I can’t complain about the suite upgrade but you can easily see that the hotel exists already for a couple of years. However, I was very positively surprised by the breakfast selection the Restaurant Saints had in the basement. You can find pretty much everything you can imagine ranging from a variety of Asian dishes …
… various dumplings …
… as well as some type of eggs …
… and a whole lot of other foods I haven’t been able to try.
But not only that, they offer also a variety of fresh food like vegetables …
… salads …
… and the obvious cold cuts …
… soups …
… bread …
… Western breakfast elements like hash browns, bacon, and wedges …
… and even a variety of fresh fruit …
… as well as things like nuts and the like. So from a ‘offering perspective’ the Hongta Hotel, respectively the Restaurant Saints definitely offers everything you can imagine and need! However, there are some flaws when it comes to the place – the service is non-existent. I mean, there are like a million waiters but they are basically just standing there chatting. Not really what you would expect from a former St. Regis.
The place itself would generally be okay but it is a bit out of ‘shape’, i.e. already a bit older so you do feel comfortable somehow but definitely not entirely! If you stay at The Hongta Hotel, as I did, it is absolutely okay to enjoy breakfast here – if you do not, however, I would not recommend you to come here for breakfast.
