Lost in translation – Taiwanese brunch experience: Restaurant Qin Lao Shi Soybean Milk (1. June 2017)
Given we wanted to try ‘Taiwanese breakfast’ we were checking out some options which would not close around 10 or 11 am but would be open for a bit longer and we found a place called ‘Qin Lao Shi Soybean Milk’. And frankly, we were lucky as there was a couple from Kuala Lumpur which spoke Chinese – because they didn’t speak a single word and the signs were all in Chinese without pictures. But what we (or rather they ordered for us) were “meat dumplings” which were delicious!
And – given the place is named after it – a cup of ” Soy Bean Milk”. At first I wasn’t entirely sure if it was going to be something I liked or not but it turns out that Soybean Milk is actually quite tasty.
Next in line was an “omelet sandwich” which was basically exactly that – nothing fancy or special but a good and tasty dish to fill up your stomach.
After that I had some other thing which was also like an “omelet” but a bit different – still, highly similar to the “omelet sandwich” I have had just before. All in all, the food is great …
… especially considering that everything is prepared in this open kitchen right at the street. The ladies who work there are super friendly and helpful despite not speaking any English.
If you are looking for a truly local experience, I can absolutely recommend you to have breakfast at the Restaurant Qin Lao Shi Soybean Milk!
