A great food festival in the middle of the biggest park: Festival Comida Continente (1. July 2017)

What a lucky coincidence – while I was in Porto the “Festival Comida Continente” took place which is basically a food festival with a lot of different food stalls. It is located in one biggest parks in Porto …

… and there are food stalls where apparently famous chefs are cooking. The concept is rather simple – there are central cashiers where you have to buy a ticket …

… which you then show at the counter of the food stall. First I went for “Tripas à modo do Porto” (EUR 4.00) which was basically a stew of different meats served with rice with bacon. Hearty, happy food!

The festival was quite large not only displaying food stalls but also a variety of live stages with different artists …

… so being hungry again, I went for the “salted codfish with potatoes and olives” (EUR 4.00). There were definitely too many potatoes and not enough cod fish – but the cod fish was also quite salty. So, not so sure how I felt about that dish really.

Interestingly enough, there was also an area where you could buy one plastic wine glass for EUR 1.00 and with that you would be able to walk from exhibitor to exhibitor filling up your wine glass over and over again …

… which was hilarious to watch. There was an old Portuguese lady which went up to every wine exhibitor, pointed at a wine, pointed at her glass, and the people filled her glass. She politely took a sip, turned around, and downed the wine in one big gulp. And on she went!

Overall, the Festival Comida Continente was definitely a great experience and is worth visiting if it happens next year again!
