Traditional breakfast place in the city center: Grand Cafe Al Porto (8. July 2017)

| October 11, 2017 | 0 Comments

About one year back I was regularly in Lugano for work but I never actually had time to enjoy the city – so the time had finally arrived. There are not that many breakfast places but the Grand Café al Porto offers a decent selection of smaller bites. I went for a “torta salata” (CHF 5.80) which was really a quiche and quite heavy …

… and a “frittata prosciutto” (CHF 12.00) which was a humongous ham and cheese omelet. Both dishes were fine but far from great and CHF 12.00 for an omelet also seems a bit over the top.

The waiters were super friendly and helpful and definitely did a good job – which definitely goes in line with the atmosphere of the café. The prices for the beverages are definitely on the more expensive side, i.e. a double espresso accounts for CHF 6.40 and 0,5l of San Pellegrino for CHF 6.80. All in all, the Grand Café al Porto is a decent place – not offering too much but it has a chic atmosphere of the 80ties.
