Fair lunch offering with a cold carrot soup: Restaurant Latino (24. July 2017)
The lunch menu (CHF 24.00) is quite decent – you get to chose from either a salad or a soup and I went for the “cold carrot soup” as a starter which was quite a portion and tasted actually way better than I had expected (given it was cold, it was surprisingly refreshing).
As a main course I had the “involtini di vitello con risotto parmigiano” which were rather blunt. The meat was dry and the stuffing quite unexciting. The risotto on the other hand was absolutely good.
After all these years of regularly eating out in Zurich, I’m still shocked that 1 liter of water (San Pellegrino) costs more than CHF 10.00 (CHF 10.50 to be precise). The “double espresso” on the other hand is decent with CHF 5.90. The service was swift and friendly and you will have your lunch within an hour (which is definitely an asset compared to other restaurants). So, all in all, you have a decent lunch offer at the Restaurant Latino in a friendly atmosphere with fair service and fair prices. However, don’t expect anything spectacular.
