Good and always changing dishes but weak service: Restaurant Brasserie Freilager (24. July 2017)
Luckily, the Restaurant Brasserie Freilager changes its menu from time to time. I went for the “grilled Secreto Iberico (hidden filet from the Iberico pork) served with Mediterranean stove vegetables with potatoes” (CHF 42.00). While the meat is aromatic, the consistency is something you have to get used to a bit. It is definitely tasty but not really a common taste.
The “spicy chorizo sauce” – which was served about 5 minutes after the actual dish had been served – really added the little something to the dish. Just a pity it was forgotten in the beginning. In general, the waiter wasn’t really what I would call an attentive and friendly personality. When I asked him how the potatoes were prepared, respectively what kind of potatoes were served, he snapped at me saying “well, potatoes are potatoes”. Oh, no? Really?!
The atmosphere was as nice as always and the prices are still decent in terms of what you get to eat but also in terms of what you get to drink (e.g. 1L water, CHF 6.00). So, while the service this time was definitely not up to its task, the food still is very tasty and the prices are generally fair. In any case, make sure you book a table in advance as the restaurant seems to be booked at all times.
