Decent lunch with not entirely perfect timing: Restaurant Wirtschaft zur Alten Post (3. August 2017)
I cannot remember how many years ago I’ve last been to this place – but it is definitely more than 8 years ago. And I somehow had kept a blurry but good memory of it and I was not disappointed. For lunch, I went for the “cold melon cucumber with ginger soup” (CHF 4.80) which didn’t look like anything special but was perfectly refreshing for the hot summer day it was.
As a main course, I went for the “French corn-fed chicken breast from the stove served with chanterelles on chorizo risotto” (CHF 25.80) and while it did not look too appealing in terms of colours on the plate, it was actually great. The chicken was smooth and rich but still a bit juicy in a pleasant way. The chorizo risotto was incredibly to my liking making it a very sound dish.
The place itself is very simple when you’re sitting outside but that’s completely fine as the service is attentive and friendly. However, what I do not entirely understand is the fact that they are able to not serve the dishes for a lunch for two people in-sync. I get it if we have a party of 10 or more people that it is difficult to fully coordinate – however, if we’re talking about two (so kind of the minimum amount allowing you to mess it up), I can’t see how you would be able to not make it. Other than that, I can recommend the Restaurant Wirtschaft zur alten Post.
