Close to perfect lunch service – as swift as you could hope for: Restaurant Pizzeria Pisco (10. August 2017)

The quickest and most customer oriented lunch I’ve had in quite a while. Between meetings we’ve had a short break allowing us to go for lunch with only a limited time span at hand. Stating that we had to be gone only 30 minutes later, the waitress sped up quite substantially. The “menu salad” which was served was not only quite decent in taste but also in portion size.

The main course was a “veal cordon bleu prepared à la Muttenz – stuffed with ham and cheese, served with croquettes” (CHF 37.50) which was again quite a portion and the meat was actually quite delicious including its stuffing – especially the amount of cheese was extraordinary as usually there is barely any in it. The quality of the meat, given it was veal not pork, was definitely above average.

For dessert, they had a complementary “vanilla cream with berries” which was again on the rather average side. But frankly, for CHF 37.50 you get a lot of food in terms of quantity but also quite good quality. Definitely worth coming here for lunch if you are in its vicinity. And while the place itself is rather simple in terms of design, it has the charm of a small local restaurant making you feel comfortable.

And you experience something you mostly won’t experience in a city like Zurich – there is something on the house. We all got an espresso for free which I consider quite a lovely gesture. And even in terms of drinks, a bottle of San Pellegrino, 1,25l accounts for reasonable CHF 10.50. Overall, I can absolutely recommend you to have lunch at the Pisco when you’re in its vicinity – decent food, fair prices, okay atmosphere and overly friendly service.
