Definitely a place you have to try when in Berlin: Berlin Beef Balls @ Markthalle Neun (20. August 2017)
While I have been to Berlin quite a couple of times, I’ve actually never heard about Markthalle Neun – and it is definitely a place you should know about. They are basically a food market hall serving different kinds of food – always a new theme – while having a kind of standardized range of things on offer. I decided to give the “Berlin Beef Balls” a try and went for “8 beef balls (4x Bangalore (cayenne, cumin, piemiento, clove, coriander, cinnamon) and 4x Bangkok (fresh lemongrass and cilantro, ginger and chili))” (EUR 8.00) and I got an extra Bangkok as they had run out of the “Berlin” and the “Bologna”. The beef balls are quite tasty and intense in taste.
What I liked a lot besides the taste was the fact that the guy at the food stall was friendly, forth-coming and welcoming making sure you would have a pleasurable experience despite them having run out of some flavours.
The Markthalle Neun really is a place to experience – lovely dishes, great atmosphere and all kinds of different people.
While it is not really located centrally, it is more than worth visiting! Take a cab, get there, and enjoy your breakfast, your lunch or your dinner.
