Great for a swift lunch – average food: Restaurant Farnsburg (11. September 2017)
What I appreciate about the Farnsburg is the fact that they are focusing on people having lunch. They are swift in terms of serving and the food is quite decent. As part of the menu (CHF 26.50) I went for the “daily salad” which wasn’t anything special but at least a decent portion.
As a main course, I went for the “pork cordon bleu stuffed with bacon, roasted onions, and cheese; served with croquettes and vegetables”. While I quite liked the stuffing of the cordon bleu, the breading wasn’t really to my gusto. The breading was rather lose and almost fell off the meat. Given though it was prepared rather swiftly and considering the price, it is completely okay.
Even more so, in the menu, there is also a small dessert included. Something you would never even potentially see in Zurich for this price. The “strawberry cream” was a nice add on to the lunch and a perfect ending of the said.
The interior of the place is not that appealing. I mean, it is functional, sure, but it isn’t a place I would want to spend much more time than to have a quick and decent lunch. The service was initially very attentive and friendly and only once we were done with eating and ordering everything, they became inattentive when we wanted to have the bill. Funny, how it always changes in quality of service when you are ready to leave.
