When the service goes the extra mile: Restaurant Riviera Enoteca con Cucina (13. September 2017)
So far, I’ve only visited the Riviera Enoteca con Cucina for lunch – but finally I managed to have dinner there. I went for the “Insalata di Spinaci con Chips di Prosciutto di Parma, Pomodori secchi e Ricotta” (CHF 18.50) which was quite lovely – I especially liked the “Prosciutto di Parma chips” as they really added to the flavour of the dish.
This evening, they had a special on the menu which was “venison” so I wanted to try it. The meat was tender and absolutely delicious. However, the portion was a bit too small for my personal gusto …
… so I asked for a second round. And surprisingly enough: I got it! That is probably one of the most generous things I’ve seen so far in Zurich as usually you would be charged for that.
When I asked for a “cheese dish” for dessert, they wouldn’t have anything on the menu at the moment but still managed to create a small cheese plate with “salted ricotta and parmesan”. The salted ricotta was surprisingly amazing. Definitely a great cheese dish, especially considering how spontaneous it was prepared.
Finally, we decided to still go for dessert and tried the “semifredo al melone con salsa di fragole” (CHF 16.50) which was fine but not entirely to my liking as the strawberry sauce was a bit too sweet for my gusto but still a decent dish.
What is truly amazing about the Riviera Enoteca con Cucina is the caring service. The head waiter was very attentive and although we’ve had some requests throughout the evening, he managed to accommodate basically all of them. I also like the place because of its simple yet appealing interior – and last but not least, the prices are absolutely acceptable.
