Great Greek food with a lot of schnaps: Restaurant Papadakis (15. September 2017)

| December 29, 2017 | 0 Comments

The Restaurant Papadakis is not really located centrally but it is definitely worth visiting – while the interior is a bit impersonal, it is quite nice to sit outside. Although when we had called to book a table in advance they were quite clear that there was no table free outside but only inside, we could easily chose a table outside when we arrived. Within no time “bread and spread” (EUR 3.00 per person) were served and the garlicy dip went well with the bread.

As a starter I went for the “sauteed prawns with chili / feta cheese” (EUR 22.00). When the dish was served, I was a bit skeptical at first as it did not look too appealing but the combination of prawns boiled in oil, served with chili and feta cheese actually made it a great dish. The prawns were cooked quite much but still absolutely pleasant in taste.

With the “catch of the day”, some oil and lemons were served as well as some very interesting greens. I am not sure what exactly it was but as it was slightly bitter, it was fine after a couple of bites for me.

The “Golden Grouper (fish of the day)” (EUR 80.00/kg) was great in quality – luscious, perfectly prepared, refined with salt and pepper, it made for a great dish. However, given you pay EUR 80.00 per kilo, I kind of found the amount of fish you actually get super limited.

There was a little dessert offered on the house – which tasted great and was the perfect starter for the next rounds.

Before we actually decided to drink some shots after dinner, the waitress – which was super friendly throughout the evening but got less and less attentive as the evening went on – brought us “vodka with strawberries” as a treat from the restaurant.

It ended up in us drinking a couple of these bottles of Greek schnaps – slightly sweet, quite lovely overall.

To sum it up, the Restaurant Papadakis is worth visiting – not really because of the view or anything but because you get good food for decent prices, nice schnaps and friendly service. Booking in advance highly recommended.
